Choosing to stay in the UK for your honeymoon? These places will ensure you still have a magical and romantic time.

You did it! You tied the knot! Now it’s time for the honeymoon.

Don't have as much time as you would like to pack, nor are you able to go abroad? No problem! These enchanting little places will help you forget that you are having to opt for a stay-cation!

Fancy a “mini-moon”? Let's go!

1. The Bath House, Warwickshire

I know what you’re thinking. First of all, it only has one main room, secondly it’s called The Bath House.

However, whatever you’re thinking: you’re wrong. This location is an ideal place to stay with your new spouse. The small octagonal building in an 18th century style is located deep in woods teeming with wildlife, and not only is the main room covered with beautiful shells and other decorations, the basement is a gorgeous spa-like cold plunge pool.

The building was designed by gentleman-architect Sanderson Miller in 1748 for his friend Sir Charles Mordaunt, at a time when the medical benefits of a cold bath were espoused as limitless and many country houses had one.

2. Soho Farmhouse, Oxfordshire

The Soho Farmhouse has options! You can choose to stay in a quaint riverside cabin or even a surprisingly luxurious bell tent.

The largest cabin has three double bedrooms, one upstairs and two downstairs. Each has rainforest showers, freestanding baths and balconies. There’s a separate lounge with a kitchenette and dining area, and a large balcony that looks out onto the lake.

Each tent comes with a six-foot bed, a wood burning stove, rugs and a pair of armchairs. Bathroom, shower and sauna facilities are located in the boathouse less than 100 metres away. There’s also an outdoor living area, so you can have tea and coffee around a fire pit, which is perfect for toasting marshmallows.

3. Bodger The Shepherd's Hut, Dorset

A “woody wonderland”, Bodger the Shepherd’s Hut at the Mallinson’s Woodland Retreat is… well… a Shepherd’s Hut. But wait wait wait. Before you stop reading and move on to the next option: just like The Bath House, it’s better than it sounds.

It overlooks a beautiful pond, resting in a clearing high in the woods, and has more amenities than one would expect for a humble shepherd, with a terrace and barbeque, a pizza oven, a double bed with an electric blanket, and heated towel rails. Late nights can be spent under a fairy-lit parasol, or exploring the wooden walkways that go deep into the woodlands, and it’s not that far to the Lyme Regis pebble beach or the Jurassic Coast.

4. Inverlochy Castle Hotel, Fort William

This one’s A CASTLE! You thought we were pulling your leg with The Bath House and the Shepherds Hut, but now you’re paying attention.

This 19th century Scottish hotel is surrounded by lush green trees and is a literal stone’s throw away from a pristine and tranquil lake. If you weren’t clued in by the fact it’s - and I don’t know if I’ve said this already - A CASTLE, then don’t fear, the staff promise that every single aspect of the hotel has been developed for your enjoyment, relaxation, and an unforgettable honeymoon.

The surrounding areas are nothing to laugh at, there’s Glen Nevis, the Glenfinnan Monument, and the mountains of Glencoe.

Former residents include such celebrities as Queen Victoria, who spent a week at Inverlochy in 1873, sketching and painting, writing in her diaries that she “never saw a lovelier or more romantic spot”.

If you can’t take honeymoon advice from a literal queen, who will you trust?

5. Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, Oxfordshire

If you’ve ever wanted to stay in a 15th-century manor with a restaurant with two Michelin-stars that was opened by Raymond Blanc, as well as gorgeous gardens on every side, then: wow, specific wish, but also: Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire is the place for you! A Belmond hotel that grows all the vegetables and herbs it uses in the kitchens on-site, if you’re looking for a honeymoon culinary experience like no other, but also want that culinary experience to go along with an in-room spa, expansive gardens, and a luxurious hotel then this is your ideal. Go for it. You know you want to.

6. The Old Railway Station, Petworth

Formerly a - you guessed it - railway station, The Old Railway Station was initially built in 1892, but now offers itself as an award-winning bed and breakfast. You and your spouse can stay in converted former railway carriages or in the main station house itself. All rooms are en-suite and come with breakfast included.

The old waiting room is now a luxurious guest lounge, and the platform it leads out onto is now a summer breakfast venue. The internal dining area extends from the booking hall into the station master’s office. The ticket office is now the station kitchen, and still features its original ticket windows.

It will be a memorable hotel stay for sure, and that’s what makes me so intrigued and excited by it!

7. Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, Lake District

Locations with an eye for luxury, the Hotel & Lake House are about a mile away from each other.

In the hotel, the rooms have lakeland views, and many of them lead directly out onto the surrounding gardens, but then there’s a number of rooms with cedarwood hot tubs, as well as others with ensuite spas, and three rooms, the Spa Suites, have even bigger spas, with their own sauna, massage chair, and cocktail bar!

Whereas the rooms in the Lake House (there are only 6) enjoy 100 acres of grounds exclusively.

Of the two on-site restaurants - both of which serve cumbrian cuisine - one is the Michelin-starred HRiSHi, and the other is a the more laid pack Gilpin Spice, which serves taps dishes inspired by countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and China.

8. Seaglass, Cornwall

Seaglass is a stylish beach house overlooking Whitsand Bay in South East Cornwall flaunting awe-inspiring views which will captivate and delight. Perched on Tregonhawke Cliff and surrounded by enclosed spacious gardens, this sustainable home is the perfect self-catering hideaway for lovebirds looking for romance by the sea.

9. Brook House Hobbit Hut, Herefordshire

As its name gives away, this one is for the Tolkien fans (and the people that married Tolkien fans), and despite the diminutive size, this cabin in the west midlands is sure to be luxurious, with a lush king size bed, a pizza oven, and the location even features a private fire pit.

Nestled in green woods with an outdoor shower, this is the perfect quaint location for the couple looking to relax in the wilderness before their next adventure.

10. Queen Anne’s Summerhouse, Bedfordshire

Looking like a mini-red brick castle, this folly in a clearing surrounded by woodland was built for a queen that never visited. Dating back to the 18th century, it was renovated in 1878, and served as a summerhouse for many years before being left derelict after the Wecond World War. Thankfully, it was restored again more recently, and now you can enjoy it overnight, exploring the rooftop terrace, and trying not to get too tipsy because the bathroom is at the bottom of a spiral staircase.

Hopefully one of these lovely little locations has caught your eye! Congratulations on getting married! We hope you enjoy your honeymoon!

Hidden Botanics is here should you need any dried or artificial floral arrangments for your big day and beyond! If you want to tell us which of these “mini-moon” locations was your favourite, give us a message on one of our social media accounts!
